Its deep burgundy-red foliage forms a dense, spreading mat that intensifies in color under full sun, then erupts in clusters of vivid magenta-pink star-shaped flowers in midsummer. Native to the Caucasus region, this tough perennial is a favorite for rock gardens, slopes, and border edges.
