Carex flacca (syn. C. glauca) – Blue Sedge
A tough and versatile evergreen sedge, Carex flacca forms a low, mat-like carpet of blue-grey foliage that spreads gradually by non-invasive rhizomes. Deer resistant and bog tolerant, it attracts butterflies and handles light foot traffic with ease — making it an excellent lawn alternative or groundcover for sun to part shade. Cut back foliage to 2–3" in late winter to encourage fresh new growth. Deciduous in colder climates; evergreen in mild ones.
