FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know.

Shipping, plant care, our guarantee, wholesale pricing, and how we source what we grow — answered in full.

Ordering & Shipping

Where do you ship?

We ship nationwide across the lower 48 states. Live plants require a valid street address — we're not able to ship live plants to PO Boxes, Alaska, or Hawaii. Seeds and hard goods can ship to PO Boxes and to Alaska and Hawaii.

Do you offer local delivery?

Yes — we offer free local delivery in Ukiah, and free delivery on orders of $99 or more from Ukiah to Santa Rosa. Smaller local orders outside of Ukiah carry a $15 delivery fee.

How long does processing take before my order ships?

Most orders are prepared within 3-5 business days. During peak seasons — especially spring and fall — processing may take a bit longer, since we prioritize plant quality, careful packing, and getting your order right over shipping it out fast.

What's your shipping schedule?

We ship based on destination to protect plant health: California orders ship throughout the week, while out-of-state orders ship Monday through Wednesday only, so plants don't sit in transit over a weekend.

What pot sizes do you sell?

Most of our catalog ships in 4-inch pots or 1-gallon containers, depending on the variety — sized to establish well after transit while keeping shipping costs reasonable. Larger specimen plants may ship in different sizes; check the individual product page for exact dimensions and available sizing.

Will my order ship if the weather is bad?

To protect plant health, we may delay shipments if temperatures fall below 35°F or rise above 90°F anywhere along the shipping route. You're welcome to request we "Ship Anyway," but that means taking on responsibility for the plant's condition on arrival.

How are plants packed for shipping?

Every order is packed with soil-stabilizing sleeves, breathable liners, and a moisture check right before it ships. Foliage may be lightly trimmed to help the plant travel safely and regrow strong once it's in the ground.

Can I change or cancel my order after I place it?

Yes, up until 9:00 AM Pacific on your scheduled ship day. After that, the order is already in processing and can't be modified.

What if an item I ordered is sold out or not ready to ship?

We work with live, fast-moving inventory, so occasionally a plant may sell out or not meet our quality standards right at fulfillment time. When that happens, we may briefly hold your order to complete it, or ship what's available and resolve the rest separately — whichever makes the most sense for timing and plant quality.

Plant Care & Guarantee

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We guarantee your plants will arrive alive and in good condition. If something arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos of the plant and the packaging, and we'll review it and work out a resolution — store credit, a replacement, or a refund, depending on the situation.

What if my plant doesn't establish after I plant it?

If a plant fails within 14 days of delivery despite proper care, we'll provide store credit for the plant's price as a one-time resolution. Beyond that 14-day window, we can't guarantee performance — too much depends on factors outside our control once a plant's in your ground.

What's not covered by the guarantee?

A few things fall outside what we can cover: orders shipped under a "Ship Anyway" request during a weather hold, delayed pickup or improper care after delivery, planting outside the recommended conditions for that variety, and pest, disease, or environmental stress that shows up after arrival.

How should I care for my plant when it first arrives?

Unpack it right away, water if the soil feels dry, and give it 24-48 hours to acclimate before planting. After that, keep the soil consistently moist (not soggy) through the first few weeks while roots establish, and hold off on fertilizing until the plant has settled in.

Can I return a plant I no longer want?

Live plants are non-returnable, since they can't be resold once shipped. Hard goods may be eligible for return — reach out and we'll let you know what's possible for your specific order.

Are your grasses drought tolerant?

Many are, once established — but "drought tolerant" almost always means after an initial establishment period, not from the day it's planted. New plantings need regular water for the first season regardless of the variety. Check our Drought Tolerant collection for varieties specifically suited to lower-water gardens.

Are these grasses safe around deer?

Most ornamental grasses are genuinely unappealing to deer thanks to tough, fibrous foliage — that's why we carry a dedicated Deer Resistant collection. That said, no plant is fully deer-proof; a hungry deer in a hard season may sample almost anything.

Wholesale & Trade

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes. We offer tiered volume pricing for landscape contractors, retail garden centers, and municipal buyers: 50+ units at 10% off, 150+ units at 15% off, and 500+ units at 20% off our standard retail pricing.

Is there a minimum order for wholesale?

Our published tiers start at 50 units. If you're below that threshold, you're welcome to order at standard retail pricing, or reach out to discuss your specific project.

How do I request a wholesale quote?

Submit an inquiry through our Wholesale page with your business details and the varieties and quantities you're considering, and we'll follow up with a quote within 1-2 business days.

Plant Selection & Sourcing

Are your plants native?

Some are, some aren't — we carry both. Our Native Grasses collection is specifically curated to include only varieties genuinely native to the United States, verified against real botanical range data, not just marketing language.

Are any of your plants restricted in certain states?

A small number of ornamental grass species are subject to state or federal regulation due to invasive potential. Where that applies to a specific product, you'll find the relevant restriction noted directly on that product's page.

What's the difference between the 'Best Sellers' and 'Landscape Favorites' collections?

Best Sellers reflects what customers actually order most, updated automatically based on real sales. Landscape Favorites is our own hand-picked selection of the varieties we consider the most reliable all-around performers, regardless of sales volume.
